How to launch a Referral Program with ActiveCampaign
In this guide we are showing how you can easily setup a referral and reward campaign and integrate it with your ActiveCampaign email list.

After creating an account on Firewards, our "Setup Your Referral Campaign" guide will guide you through the process of integrating with ActiveCampaign.
First, we ask to select your current provider. Please select ActiveCampaign:
Connect ActiveCampaign
In the next step you will have to provide your API Key. This is a password that ActiveCampaign provides for third party integrations so that we can keep track of, credit referrals and synchronize your subscribers.
After connecting, we go ahead and synchronize our referral data into ActiveCampaigns custom variables for each of your subscribers. One field for instance is going to be the refer friends page that every subscriber gets.
The following screenshots will show you how to obtain this key.
Login to your ActiveCampaign Account
Hover over the cog symbol in the bottom left corner to access Settings -> Developer.

After you successfully connected your ActiveCampaign account you are able to actually setup your referral program.
Select the ActiveCampaign Subscriber List you would like to use for your referral campaign.
This is usually your main email list.
Activating your list kicks off an essential process for Firewards: we are synchronizing your subscribers with our system.
This step is necessary to provide your newsletter service with variables you can then use in your copy.
Depending on the size of your list, this process can take from a few minutes up to several hours. So please be a little bit patient with us.
You will receive an email notification once your referral program is ready to use.
Create Your First Reward
Here you can define your first reward. Rewards are physical or digital items you give your subscribers as a benefit for referring your friends.

Now that you successfully connected your provider and selected the list you are going to use, Firewards is ready for your referral campaigns!
Paste the code into your ActiveCampaign email
Copy and paste the example into your next email campaign. The copy consists of some essential variables that are going to be replaced by a unique referral link and your subscribers current referral status.
Send out your campaign -> Receive Referrals
