How Firewards works
The way our referral mechanism works is we synchronize unique referral links for each subscriber among with statistical information such as the amount of referrals with your email provider. This gives you the unique experience of showing subscribers their current referral performance in every email you send.
Why this is a problem
It is necessary that the email provider offers a programmatic interface (API) with access for us to provide this information to them. Usually this is done by pushing referral information into custom parameters. The ideal situation is that each subscriber has a subset of custom parameters we can refer to.
Now, according to Substacks support, they currently don't provide any API's for us to connect with. Unfortunately, they don't even allow to insert the subscribers email address into your issue. Given that, we are currently not able to synchronize the necessary referral information into your Substack subscribers at this point.
Can I still use Firewards with Substack?
We are currently working on a solution that would still make it possible for you to run a referral system with Substack.
